“As part of the project, we are to team up with a local nonprofit to organize an event for them,” said co-captain Vitold Korkuc, a student in St. Clair’s event management program.
“We have partnered with the Windsor Cancer Center Foundation.
Another organizer, Vwija Jani, said about 100 people signed up for the march, which started at the Canadian flag in Dieppe Gardens.
The walkers continued along the waterfront to the foot of the Ambassador Bridge and returned on a blustery, cold but sunny Saturday morning.
“So far we’ve raised $800 and were hoping for somewhere between $1,000 and $1,200,” Jani said. “It’s a good day for a walk.”
Participants received a t-shirt and cap before the walk.
The Windsor Cancer Center Foundation serves as the official fundraising arm for the Windsor Regional Cancer Center at the Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus.
